Program and Classes That I Teach

Programs:

I enjoy meeting other quilters, and sharing my quilts by doing trunk shows at quilt guilds, and anywhere else that quilters gather.  My program is all about "Inspiration" I have about 20 large quilts to show. I share how I got the idea to make each one; along with the strategies I use throughout my process to stay organized, get things finished, and have fun while doing it. I share why I made the design decisions that I made, my approach to using color, and scraps. I hope to help you see the world around you with fresh eyes, and get inspired by so much more than just other quilts. Classes:

Sonja's Windows-This class is an excellent beginner class. This strip piecing technique makes 4 blocks at once. We will discuss various options for setting these blocks.

Let's Polka-This class is also good for beginners. This quilt uses very simple blocks, such as half square triangles, quarter square triangles, and simple strip piecing, to make a contemporary design. We will discuss different ways of laying out the blocks.

Aubry-This class teaches pinning your repeats in layers to get a kaleidoscope effect, along with ways of laying out the resulting blocks. We will add other design elements by piecing some of the triangles.

Indian Summer-This class deals with a strip piecing technique. Also, using, EQ or graph paper to design.

Native Harvest-This class covers some of the same techniques as Indian Summer, but using a very different layout.

Pineapple Storm-I believe the Pineapple block is a really good block to teach those who are new to paper piecing. We will also cover working from a drawing, and organizing strategies.

Flip and Sew Tableware-Table runners, hot pads, or place mats, we will use strip piecing and the flip and sew technique to make a small item that would be suitable as a gift or charity project.

Trip Around the World-Strip piecing an old favorite, plus some fun ways to vary the design.

A Maze Zing-This is a variation on a jelly roll quilt. It will give the students practice on measuring, and adding borders. It makes up very quickly.

I can do an overview, and demonstrate the techniques in 4 hours, for most of the classes, some, more easily than others. Longer class times will enable me to offer more help to participants as they get further along in the process. I can spread things out by dividing the classes into multiple sessions; which would allow the participants to make progress at home before moving on to the next step.

4 hour classes-$300.00 for up to 10 students, $30.00 for each student after 10
6 hour classes-$400.00 for up to 10 students, $40.00 for each student after 10
1 hour programs-$325.00

Travel expenses will have to be added to all of the above for engagements further than 50 miles from Porterdale GA. Mileage is calculated using Google maps.
