Blogger's Quilt Festival, Fall 2012

This my entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival, fall 2012.

This quilt was inspired by a woven Indian blanket I saw in a book. Quilts like this really help me to see how my background in weaving effects my quilting. It is strip pieced, and I had such a great time making it, I immediately got on my EQ and designed several other configurations. One is already finished, and I am working on the second. I can't wait to get started on the third. Making these is so much fun. This quilt measures 79" by 96"

Here is a detail of the same quilt. My dear friend, Regina Carter long arm quilted it.

Thanks so much to Amy for doing this. I love seeing all of the quilts!

A happy and safe Halloween to everyone, and thanks for stopping by!

  2. It's gorgeous and really does look woven (not surprising, given your artistic background!) Beautiful translation from inspiration to finished quilt.

  4. Stunning! That looks absolutely intimidating, but I think I have to make one! I love it! You ought to make that into a pattern - I'll be your first customer!

  5. When I first saw the thumbnail photo on the Festival site, it reminded me of the Krokbragd rugs of Norwegian origin, certainly an ethnic piece. My weaving professor many years ago was Norwegian and one of my first projects was making one of those Krokbragd rugs. This is beautiful, and so well done! A favorite in this Festival!

  7. It's beautiful. I love the texture the different fabrics you chose give to the finished quilt. They look solid, but aren't, and to me that gives a quilt so much more interest.
